Handmade paper has transferred knowledge and history to new generations for over 14 centuries in Japan, but after the industrial revolution, the western mechanical method became more mainstream and the demand for handmade paper, which takes more time and effort, has significantly diminished. This video is a short documentary about a studio in Saitama, Japan, where craftspeople make various efforts to spread the culture and technology of handmade paper to more people around the world.
